Rewire Your Mind: Stop limiting your success

Brad Bizjack stopped by the Rieke offices to share about success, failure, and rewiring your mind.

Finding Brad Bizjack

Brad Bizjack with Rewire Your Mind

Rieke’s EVP is a success for a reason: She never stops pursuing growth. Colleen is always looking for inspiration, new ideas, and like-minded leaders who fearlessly chase after excellence.

That’s how she found Brad Bizjack.

Brad is a certified High-Performance coach who has helped thousands of people unlock new levels of success. His podcast, Rewire Your Mind, is a weekly conversation designed to help listeners build “wildly successful and fulfilling lives.”

Colleen listens every week during her morning commute. When she found out that Brad was local to the area, it felt like fate: She had to bring him in to speak to the Rieke sales team.

Rewire Your Mind: Sales Edition

If you’re in sales, you know that the new year can feel especially difficult. You’ve just hit your your goals for the previous year, but the celebration dies with the flip of the calendar—a new year means a whole new set of numbers to hit.

But what if, instead of feeling discouraged by the January slump, our whole sales team embraced a shift in perspective?

Enter: Brad Bizjack.

Stop Limiting Beliefs

Too many people—including folks on our stellar sales force—limit themselves, putting up roadblocks to their success. They hear whispers about a faltering economy and enter into a survival mindset, reducing their sales goals instead of chasing new heights.

But grand goals are key to happiness: We all need something to work toward, in both our personal lives and our careers. Dream about buying a home—or a second home—going to Europe, making partner.

Rather than focusing on the barriers, why not focus on how to achieve those big goals? And at Rieke Interiors, how can we help our team dream big and achieve?

Start with Why

What is it that’s standing in your way, and why? How do we dig into that and change your mindset?

During our day-long training event with Brad, one of our sales people said, “I hate cold calling. But it isn’t really about the cold calling, it’s about the fear of rejection.”

The key is rewiring your brain: Don’t look at it as rejection, look at it as brightening someone’s day with your friendly voice. If they don’t need anything, don’t sweat it—it’s not personal.

On top of that, transform the task into something you enjoy, if you can. Do you like gardening?

Make calls while you’re watering and pruning to make the process more enjoyable.

The Three Cs

What are Brad’s three Cs to success?

  1. Community
You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with. If you want to grow your business by 50%, you need to be with like-minded people that are doing that. Surround yourself with people who are driving the same direction you are.

  2. Coaching
Weekly podcasts and regular reading is a great place to start, but can only go so far. A coach can see your blind spots and help you get past them.

  3. Consistency
Unless you are consistently working toward your goals, you won’t achieve them. Be with your community, meet with your coach, meditate, exercise, network—take regular, incremental steps toward the finish line.

Challenges and a Growth Mindset

Life is not happening to you, it’s happening for you.

When life happens, you have a choice. You can wallow in the negative, or flip the script and think: what is this challenge teaching me? How can it skyrocket me to do something else? Imagine how different you would feel if you embraced every moment as an opportunity for growth.

If you’re facing a challenge, remember that it’s preparing you for something else. Whatever it is, even if it’s just to help you better support someone in the future, it’s meant to happen.

Final Takeaways

You can rewire your mindset—professionally and personally—once you take away the fear and anxiety of challenges and fully enjoy your job.

Since Brad’s visit, our whole sales team has felt invigorated. Everyone’s attitude has been tremendously upbeat, pushing beyond new thresholds: we want to be present, passionate, and achieve big things.
