How Office Artwork Can Enhance Employee Morale and Productivity

Unless you’re lucky enough to have a beach vacation planned this February, winter can feel like a long, chilly slog to spring. Slushy sidewalks and bone-chilling temperatures send us scurrying indoors, and overcast days leave everyone feeling cooped up.

It’s the perfect time to reevaluate an indoor space. Discover how incorporating office artwork can boost employee morale and productivity.

Learn about the positive impact of visual stimulation in the workplace.

How does your office space feel?

Is it warm and welcoming, clean and calm, invigorating and refreshing? Or is it drab and dull, leaving your employees feeling just as gray as the weather outside? Sprucing an office doesn’t have to mean an entire renovation. You can boost morale and increase productivity simply by considering the visual stimulation of your workplace. Office artwork is a great place to start.

Evaluate Office Artwork

What does the office artwork at your workplace say about your company? Corporate artwork doesn’t have to be nondescript images of impersonal landscapes or inspirational photos. It can (and should!) be so much more. Take a moment to consider: What impact is my office artwork having on my company? Does it reflect the passion I want my customers to feel when they walk through the doors? Your office artwork should reflect who you are, what you do, and what you aspire to become.

Office Artwork: More than Framed Images

If the phrase “office artwork” makes you think of tacky “leadership” or “hang in there” posters, allow us to clarify: Office artwork can be cool. (It can also be bold, wacky, fun, funky, and totally unique to your space.)

Artwork in a corporate environment can take your company’s identity, product, or brand and transform it into a piece of art. At Rieke Interiors, we’ve created all sorts of artwork, including:

  • Custom wallpaper

  • Wall hangings

  • Timelines

  • History walls

And all the ornate branded pieces we design—sometimes a mural, sometimes multiple 3D components—express the values of each individual company.

Here’s a step-by-step breakdown:

  1. Contact our interior design team.
You don’t need to have an artistic eye or a vision board: We’ll discuss your space, learn about your company culture and products, and discover your brand identity. Together, we’ll get ideas flowing.

  2. Show off your space.
Then we’ll send one of our doyen designers to explore your space in person. They’ll help determine where your artwork should be installed—the best spot that will have the most impact for your clients and customers.

  3. Prepare to be wowed.
Our team will present you with example images and mockups for your review. Once we have concept approval, we’ll determine pricing and present to you and your team.

  4. Love your space.
Watch your space transform: Office artwork is typically ready for install in four to six weeks.

Are you ready to transform your workspace? Let’s create unique pieces that spark delight and inspiration in your whole team: work with us.

Pro Tips from the Experts: Hanging artwork

  1. Too many people hang artwork too high: That is the biggest mistake! The center of the piece should be hung  60” above the floor.

  2. If you are hanging artwork over a console table or other piece of furniture, hang it a 4-8” above that furniture.

  3. When hanging a collage of pieces, only leave 2-3” between the pieces. If you space out the pieces too much, they lose the feel of being a collage.

  4. Storms, earthquakes and the unexpected pose a threat to your space. Ensure that your artwork is ready for anything!
